As the City of Eagle grows, the need for affordable, convenient healthcare intensifies. A new state-of-the art medical plaza now provides that service in Eagle.

Saint Alphonsus Eagle Health Plaza will provide a broad range of healthcare services to patients with routine, chronic or acute conditions, and give them access to the latest medical technologies and care of emergency, medical, surgical and rehabilitation specialists. Located at the corner of Eagle Road and Highway 44 in the Eagle River development, the 74,000 square foot facility integrates the same healing principals as the Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center and Meridian Health Plaza—calming and restful design and décor elements reflecting nature that are proven to enhance health, healing and quality of life.

Outpatient Surgery Becoming More Common
In the past few years, over half of the outpatient procedures performed nationwide in the United States were delivered in an outpatient surgery department of a hospital. In fact, outpatient surgical procedures at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center have tracked above that national average.

Many factors indicate that outpatient surgeries will become more common:

• Technology innovations continue to offer less invasive surgical techniques
  
• New communication systems are being designed to deliver medical care to remote locations
  
• Baby boomers are rapidly becoming the largest group to qualify for and require health services
  
• Patients prefer and are more satisfied with outpatient procedures because they are typically easier to recover from, tend to be less stressful and require less time away from work or family.

With this in mind, Saint Alphonsus conducted research to identify if developing outpatient surgery and healthcare centers were practical and desirable. The results showed over 69 percent of Eagle area residents would be likely to use an outpatient health center close to their home. A majority of people surveyed indicated they would prefer this type of facility rather than going to the hospital.

Plus, our first outpatient facility, the Meridian Health Plaza located near Ten Mile and Cherry Lane, has been open for two years and has confirmed our belief that patients and consumers prefer to visit this kind of comprehensive, convenient healthcare facility for outpatient services.

It was through a combination of all this information, plus our continual mission to bring affordable, convenient care that will help improve the health of our communities, that we determined to build the Eagle Health Plaza.
