Trauma
Management
The Idaho Neurological Institute extends our trauma and neurological
care to emergency sites and rural hospitals throughout the region. Brain
trauma is treated aggressively, beginning in our Trauma Center and continuing
in the Intensive Care Unit, with the use of intracranial pressure monitoring,
sedation, ventilation, state-of-the-art beds, and Swan Ganz and arterial
pressure catheters for hemodynamic management.
The INI takes a proactive approach by utilizing evidence based research practice and protocols. Our critical care nursing staff monitors patients minute-to-minute to immediately detect and minimize further brain injury, giving the brain-injured patient maximum opportunity for recovery. A case manager and a physician team, consisting of a trauma surgeon, a neurosurgeon and an intensivist, manage each patient's care.
