Movement Disorders
The Idaho Neurological Institute has instituted a
Movement Disorders Team made up of neurologists, neuropsychologists, physiatrists,
neuroradiologists and neurosurgeons. This highly skilled team works with
individuals who suffer from Parkinson's Disease, Essential Tremor and other
movement disorders. Treatment plans are tailored to meet the needs of each
patient.
The INI offers a full range of treatment options for patients, from traditional drug therapy to surgical interventions, and now provides Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for those individuals who qualify for this minimally invasive treatment. Although DBS is not for all individuals suffering from Parkinson's Disease or Essential Tremor, it does offer hope to many candidates. Individuals must first meet set criteria, which include cardiac clearance, no underlying depression or dementia, prior history of good response to levodopa and clear evidence of idiopathic Parkinson's Disease.
For more information on Deep Brain Stimulation or Parkinson's Disease and Essential Tremor please contact the INI at 208-367-6570.
