Aircraft & Equipment

Saint Alphonsus Life Flight has four helicopters and a fixed-wing aircraft that are based in Boise, McCall, Ontario and soon Mountain Home.

Helicopters
Our helicopters cover over 100,000 square miles of southern Idaho, eastern Oregon, and northern Nevada. Our helicopters accommodate one patient and three Life Flight crew members and are specially outfitted with state-of-the-art in-flight medical equipment.

Our helicopters are equipped with both adult and pediatric cardiovascular and airway management equipment, trauma supplies and a full pharmacy. We also have neonatal equipment to support critically ill and fragile newborns and are capable of caring for pregnant mothers at risk and cardiac patients needing special support.

When we need to transport these special patients we have access to an on-call crew for neonatal and maternal-fetal transport, and many of our crew members are qualified to monitor intra-aortic balloon pumps during transport.

The Piper Cheyenne III (aka Life Flight XT)
Our airplane is capable of flying throughout the United States. The Piper Cheyenne III (aka Life Flight XT) is a powerful all weather twin engine turboprop airplane that is pressurized up to 31,000 feet and travels in excess of 300 mph. Life Flight XT is designed for long distances and can travel over 1,400 miles non-stop. It is fully customized with state-of-the-art in-flight medical equipment and can carry a patient and an accompanying family member, along with the Life Flight crew.

The XT is equipped with both adult and pediatric cardiovascular and airway management equipment, trauma supplies and a full pharmacy. We also have neonatal equipment to support the transport of critically ill and fragile newborns, and are capable of caring for pregnant mothers at risk and cardiac patients needing special support. When we need to transport these special patients we have access to an on-call crew for neonatal and maternal-fetal transport, and many of our crew members are qualified to monitor intra-aortic balloon pumps during transport.
