What is biotherapy?
Biotherapy is a type of anticancer therapy which utilizes
natural body proteins and their functions to fight cancer. It can also
fight infections, and other diseases. It can decrease certain side
effects that may be caused by cancer treatment. Also called biological
therapy, immunotherapy. This type of treatment is usually given
intravenously or as an injection under the skin (not in the muscle).
What are the side effects of biotherapy?
Because biotherapy works in the immune system some
of the side effects may be bone pain, fever, pain at injection site and general
fatigue and discomfort. Many of these side effects can be managed with
proper fluid intake, pain medication and proper nutrition.
