Diagnosis
The Comprehensive Breast Care Program offers a full range of state-of-the-art
diagnostic services. Screening and diagnostic mammography, clinical breast
exams, ultrasound, as well as stereotactic mammotome biopsy and ultrasound
guided biopsy are offered at our Saint Alphonsus Breast Care Center
Our specially trained radiologists perform the stereotactic and ultrasound guided biopsies. Our breast cancer surgeons have been specially trained in biopsy techniques as well as sentinel lymph node mapping and biopsy. Information that we obtain from the lymph node samples is very important for staging purposes to help your comprehensive breast care team give you accurate prognostic and treatment recommendations.
Biopsy and lymph node specimens are examined by one of our board-certified pathologists and results are given to you within 24 hours of your procedure by our Breast Care Specialist. She will meet with you in the Breast Care Center to offer personalized education and support and guide you into our program in a timely fashion that is also convenient for you.
