American College of Surgeons—Cancer
Care Accreditation
The
Saint Alphonsus Cancer Care Center was awarded the highest overall rating possible
from the American College of Surgeons in February 2007. This places it among
the top half of cancer programs surveyed nationwide. Compared to other centers
throughout the nation, the Cancer Care Center was noted to be particularly
strong in prevention and early detection through an outstanding outreach program,
commendable Cancer Registry staff education, and outstanding cancer related
improvements implemented each year.
Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities
Rehabilitation Services received a three-year accreditation
by Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)—2006
Rehabilitation services received accreditation by CARF for the brain injury program, spinal cord system of care and general rehab. STARS (Saint Alphonsus Rehabilitation Services) also received accreditation for their outpatient brain injury program. This accreditation represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization that proficiently meets the standards established by CARF.
An organization receiving a three-year accreditation outcome has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors, during an on-site visit, that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable.
